Parents, Guardians & Churches:
Everything You Need to Know
Whether you’re registering your child, organizing a youth group, or looking for ways to support campers, we’re glad you’re here.
Loucon is committed to creating a safe, active, and fun environment where kids can make new friends, build lasting memories, grow in their faith, and experience God’s love. This page has everything parents, guardians, churches, and youth leaders need to know before camp.
For Churches & Youth Groups
Loucon partners with churches and youth groups in the important work of helping kids grow as disciples. For many young people, camp is where faith, friendship, fun, and meaningful experiences all come together.
We want to make the registration process as simple as possible for your church and your families.
-
Parents or guardians register their children independently. This helps ensure that we receive all necessary permission and medical forms directly from the child’s parent or guardian.
Churches may provide scholarships or financial assistance directly to families or pay Loucon on the camper’s behalf. Special registration codes for your church are required and available upon request.
Payment is due 7 days before the camper’s session begins, unless the family is using one of Loucon’s payment plans.
Students who receive financial assistance from their church are still eligible to apply for Loucon scholarships. Loucon scholarship applications must be submitted before registering for camp.

For Parents & Guardians
Thank you for considering Loucon for your child!
We’re committed to fostering a safe, active, and fun environment where kids can make new friends and create lasting memories. Our hope is that every camper leaves with positive role models, lessons in character, examples of God’s love, and stories they’ll be telling long after they get home.
Below are some of the most important things to know as you prepare for camp.
-
We don’t want finances to keep a child from experiencing camp.
Loucon scholarships are available from 25% to 100% of the camp fee, up to $415 per camper per year.
If you are applying for a Loucon scholarship, please apply before registering for camp.
Many churches and youth groups also provide financial assistance. If you are part of a church or other faith community, ask your church leaders whether they offer financial assistance or can reimburse you for all or part of your child’s camp fee.
-
We offer three payment options for summer camp:
Pay in full at registration.
Pay 50% at registration and the remaining 50% 7 days before camp.
Make equal monthly payments on the first of each month.
Choose the option that works best for your family during camper registration.
-
Volunteers are an essential part of making Loucon happen!
Each summer, we welcome approximately 40 deans and more than 100 cabin leaders who give their time to guide, encourage, and support kids along their discipleship journey.
If you’d like to serve at camp and be part of the experience, we’d love to hear from you.

1. Go over check-in information.
2. Obtain any camper medications and/or medical information.
3. Provide next-step instructions including where to drive.
-
Check Out: 10:00am for all camps
Follow the posted signs for your child’s camp to pick up your camper. We’ll do another drive through loop version where families can stay in the vehicle. Upon arrival in your camper’s area a Loucon staff member will ask your camper’s name, verify your photo I.D. and have you sign for medications. They will then send for your camper. Don’t forget to go to TURNER LODGE and visit our CAMP STORE before you leave!
-
All medication, whether prescription or over the counter, is handled by Loucon’s summer healthcare team. They will be present at Check-in to log medication, store it, and to see that your camper receives the correct amount at the proper intervals. Medication must be in its original container and prescriptions must have the name of the child. Please only send the amount of medication they will need during their camp. You’ll receive a form to fill out prior to camp. Please bring this with you for check-in.
-
Absolutely! Loucon is a nut-free facility that caters to all allergies. Please let us know when you register if your camper has any dietary restrictions.
-
If you want anyone other than you to pick up your child, you MUST list that person as authorized. You may also list those whom your child is not allowed to ride with. Anyone who picks up a child must present a photo ID—parents included.
-
We do not allow camper cell phones at camp. If your child has a medical or mental health condition that requires the use of their phone, please make arrangements with the program director at least 48 hours before your camp begins.
-
While we recognize some unavoidable interruptions (e.g., doctor visits), we strongly encourage you to clear your child’s calendar for the week. Any midweek absence must be recorded with the director or program director at least 48 hours before your camp begins.
-
Except in very unusual cases, we do not allow campers to make or receive calls during camp. However, if we have any questions or information to share we will call you as soon as possible. You can report emergencies to us through our office phone 2702427160 or host phone 2708991206
Additionally, you can submit messages that are printed and delivered to campers on a daily basis through our campergram service.
-

Safety at Camp
-
Staff and volunteers are trained to never be alone with a camper. There are two counselors in each cabin, and campers and adults always travel in groups of at least three (i.e. either 1 adult and 2 campers, 2 adults and 1 camper.) Any private conversation between an adult and a camper must take place in view of at least one other person.
-
There are two counselors assigned to a cabin of a maximum of ten campers. In addition to these two counselors, there are many other staff members present at meals and each activity session. Older campers may use the buddy system at times, but counselors are responsible for knowing where their assigned campers are at all times, and campers are never alone.
-
Our staff applicants go through an intense interview process that lasts an entire weekend, during which we come to understand their maturity, their strengths, and their weaknesses. We screen their past employment and social media in addition to reviewing references and performing background checks and sexual offender searches.
-
We use a combination of summer staff and volunteers to serve as counselors for each camp. A trusted adult, often a pastor or a past Loucon staff member, is chosen by Loucon to be the leader/coordinator of each camp. This dean is responsible for recruiting volunteers to help during their week of camp. Just like staff applicants, volunteers must complete an application, and Loucon performs reference and background checks in addition to a sexual offender search.
-
Our adventure activities are inspected and adjusted annually by an independent organization. Through this organization's report coupled with our additional inspections throughout the year, we work to constantly improve and update our courses, equipment, and safety procedures.
