Summer staff typically have time off each weekend beginning Friday afternoon through Sunday at 1:00 PM. This gives you time to rest, hangout with staff, spend time with family and friends, or head home for the weekend. Throughout the summer, there are also a couple of optional weeks where staff can choose whether or not to work. Additional time off may be requested and will be considered based on scheduling and camp needs. We want our staff to have opportunities to rest and recharge throughout the summer!

Absolutely! We understand that you may have family events, vacations, or other commitments throughout the summer. Summer staff are welcome to request additional time off, and we do our best to accommodate those requests based on staffing and camp needs. We encourage you to communicate any known conflicts as early as possible so our team can plan accordingly. While we cannot guarantee every request will be approved, we want to help you find a balance between serving at camp and your personal commitments.

Yes, working at Loucon may qualify as an internship or practicum depending on your school's requirements and area of study. Our summer staff gain hands-on experience in leadership, teamwork, youth development, outdoor recreation, ministry, and more. We are happy to work with you and your school to explore opportunities to earn academic credit while serving at camp. Be sure to let us know about your program's requirements early in the application process so we can determine if Loucon would be a good fit!

Absolutely! We love when friends choose to spend their summer serving together at Loucon. Working alongside friends can make the summer even more memorable, and you'll have plenty of opportunities to build new friendships along the way. While we can't guarantee that you'll always be working together, we encourage you both to apply and experience a summer at Loucon!

Our application process begins with completing an online application. After applying, you'll have the opportunity to interview with our team either virtually or at our preferred in-person Interview Retreat, held February 20–22. The Interview Weekend is a great opportunity to experience Loucon, meet other potential staff members, and get a better understanding of what working at camp looks like. Our team will guide you through the next steps of the hiring process following your interview.

While we would love to have everyone join our summer staff team, we have a limited number of positions available each summer. If you aren't selected, we encourage you to apply again in the future or explore other opportunities to get involved at Loucon. Not being selected doesn't mean you wouldn't be a great fit in the future, and we appreciate everyone who takes the time to apply and share their interest in serving at camp!
